Leslie Murphy Shoulder Replacement

“I absolutely, just love him. He’s been in my life for over 20 years as a friend and mentor. There was no question for who I was choosing to help me.” It all started in 2003 when Leslie Murphy started working with Dr. Cohen as a medical assistant. She was an instrumental part in growing an orthopedic team with Dr. Cohen. In fact, Leslie continued working with him through school to become a registered nurse.

Born and raised in the Appalachia, Leslie was the first one in her family to go to college. Now, she is two classes away from her master’s degree and works as a patient care manager for hospice. Leslie is family-oriented and says they would describe her as artistic and stubborn. She enjoys painting with acrylics on the side, medal detecting, hiking, and attending festivals.

Thankfully, those activities will be more enjoyable since having a total knee replacement by Dr. Cohen. Prior to surgery, Leslie would have to sit down after a few steps, she had to tape and brace her knee, as well as ice only for that to help sometimes. “I was in misery and would go home and just cry,” she stated.

There was no question to who was going to help Leslie with her knee. “I’ve seen his results. I have seen him fix other surgeons mess ups,” she mentioned. Trust is important when it comes to choosing a surgeon. “Since the trust was there, I had no fear. I know what he can do,” said Leslie. She told a quick story that really voices one of Dr. Cohen’s attributes that make him the great surgeon he is:

“First time we met, I was 24 or 25, I was scared to death. I was being interviewed and Dr. Cohen made light of the situation. My first impression was he was cool and humorous. I noticed a small Metallica figurine set in his office. After I was hired, the team and I would always play tricks on him and move his things around in his office. He would always be able to tell. He is very particular and observant!”

Leslie saw Dr. Cohen in Chillicothe and Grove City for her knee replacement. Now, about 8 weeks post op, she said, “I’m doing way better than I had ever anticipated. I’m walking up and down stairs normally, using the treadmill and elliptical and once the weather gets better, I’ll be out hiking and metal detecting!”

If you are experiencing pain, don’t wait. Leslie says, “Hear Dr. Cohen out and just see what he can offer. Trust him. I’m a living testimony.”
