Jaiden Clemmons: Returning to Strength, Sport, and Confidence After ACL Reconstruction

Jaiden Clemmons is a college student from Chillicothe, Ohio, who has always lived an active lifestyle built around sports, the outdoors, and staying on the move. A graduate of Unioto High School, Jaiden is now attending Defiance College on a powerlifting scholarship, balancing academics with life on campus and work at a local marina during the summer. From a young age, she was involved in athletics, playing softball throughout high school and later stepping into lacrosse for the first time during her senior year.

It was during that very first lacrosse season that Jaiden’s life took an unexpected turn.

In her first home game, surrounded by family and friends who had come to watch her play, Jaiden went down on the field after a sudden, non-contact injury. She immediately felt something wasn’t right when her knee gave out and she was unable to run normally. What began as a moment of confusion on the sidelines quickly became a much more serious concern.

The following morning, Jaiden sought care at a local clinic in Chillicothe, where she was evaluated and referred for imaging. An MRI soon confirmed the extent of the injury, an ACL tear that would require surgical repair to restore stability and allow her to return to the activities she loved most.

Already a highly active individual, the injury impacted more than just sports. Jaiden described her lifestyle as one centered around movement, walking outdoors, camping with her family, staying active at the gym, and enjoying time outside whenever possible. The idea of losing that independence and mobility was difficult, especially as she had just committed to continue her athletic and academic career in college.

After researching her options and hearing consistently positive feedback from others, Jaiden and her family felt confident in her care team and moved forward with treatment under Dr. Cohen. From the very beginning, she describes the experience as straightforward, supportive, and transparent.

At her initial visits, Jaiden felt her questions were answered clearly and honestly, without anything being left out or oversimplified. While nervous going into surgery, she recalls feeling reassured by both Dr. Cohen and the care team at Grove City, who made her feel comfortable and informed at every step.

Her ACL reconstruction surgery went smoothly, and recovery began immediately afterward with structured rehabilitation and guidance. Throughout the process, Jaiden stayed engaged in her physical therapy and remained focused on returning to full strength.

Over time, she regained stability, confidence, and full function in her knee. Today, Jaiden reports no ongoing pain or limitations in the joint and has returned to an active lifestyle. She is back to powerlifting, spending time outdoors, and participating in activities like pickleball and basketball with friends, things she says would not have been possible without surgical repair and proper recovery.

Looking back, Jaiden describes her experience as one built on trust, communication, and confidence in her care team. She emphasizes the importance of having a surgeon who is not only skilled, but also approachable and willing to answer questions directly.

For Jaiden, the outcome is simple but meaningful: she is back to doing what she loves, without her knee holding her back.
