From Constant Pain to Renewed Strength: How Sherry Johnson Got Her Life Back

From Constant Pain to Renewed Strength: How Sherry Johnson Got Her Life Back

For Sherry Johnson, a longtime Columbus, Ohio resident, life was once full of simple joys, spending time with family, traveling, and relaxing with a good movie. Married for 16 years with a son now living in Las Vegas, Sherry spent much of her career caring for others, working as a patient transporter for 17 years and now part-time at the highway patrol academy.

But over time, chronic pain began to take over.

When Pain Affects Every Part of Life

What started as discomfort quickly became something much more serious.

“It felt like my life was going down the drain,” Sherry shared.

The pain impacted everything, her ability to walk, sleep, and even enjoy vacations. Something as simple as walking on the beach became impossible.

“I couldn’t do anything.” After years of trying to manage the pain, including more than a decade of steroid use, she knew it was time to find a real solution.

Finally Feeling Heard

Sherry was initially referred for surgery elsewhere, but that plan never moved forward. Eventually, she was connected with Dr. Cohen, and from the very first conversation, she felt a difference.

“He seemed like he really cared from the moment I told him what was going on. He was determined to help me.”

Having spent years working around physicians herself, she didn’t say that lightly.

“Out of all the doctors I’ve experienced, he really wanted to help me. He truly cared about my well-being.”

A Clear Plan, and Real Results

With a focus on getting to the root of the problem, Dr. Cohen recommended a path forward: hip replacement surgery.

Sherry’s right hip was replaced in December 2025, followed by her left hip just recently.

From the start, the experience was centered around comfort and confidence.

“I was very scared,” she admitted. “But everyone was so friendly. The quickness, no waiting, and how clean everything was, it made me feel safe.”

A Turning Point in Recovery

The results have already been life-changing. Her right hip pain is now at a 1 out of 10, something that once felt impossible.

“I can walk farther now. It feels strong and stable.”

While her left hip is still early in the recovery process, she’s already seeing the difference that the right care can make, not just physically, but mentally.

“This has made me stronger, mentally and physically,” she said. “He brought the sunshine in.”

Trusting the Right Care

After years of advocating for patients, Sherry found herself on the other side, searching for answers and struggling to find the right help.

“I’m usually the one cheering for patients,” she said. “But it took a turn years ago, I couldn’t get good help.”

Now, that’s changed. “He’s very professional. He’s going to listen, hear you out, and come up with a solution. He’s not going to stretch it out, he’s going to fix it.”

Her trust is clear, and so is her recommendation.

“I would absolutely go to him again. I would recommend him to anyone.”

Moving Forward

Today, Sherry is focused on healing, regaining her independence, and getting back to the life she loves.

With less pain, more mobility, and a care team that truly listened, she’s finally moving forward with confidence.

“He was heaven sent.”
