Orthopedic Treatments in Columbus, OH

If you have knee, shoulder, or hip pain, Dr. Cohen will discuss your treatment options with you, including both non-surgical and surgical options. Some of the common surgical treatments are listed below.

Robotic-Assisted Knee Surgery

Dr. Brian Cohen utilizes MAKO SmartRobotics™ for personalized surgical planning and precise surgical guidance. During a robotic-assisted knee replacement, Dr. Cohen guides the robotic arm to remove the damaged parts of your knee and then inserts a metal-and-plastic implant to restore your knee function. Depending on how much of your knee is damaged, you may need either a partial knee replacement or a total knee replacement. If you have already had knee replacement surgery and the implant needs to be replaced, then you may need to undergo revision total knee replacement surgery, which Dr. Cohen also performs with robotic assistance.

ACL Primary Repair

Shoulder Arthroscopic Surgery

A shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery performed with a device about the size of a pencil that carries a tiny video camera (an arthroscope). Dr. Cohen uses an arthroscope to look inside the shoulder and then uses tiny surgical instruments inserted through small incisions to perform the procedure.

Rotator Cuff Tear Surgery

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is a minimally invasive surgery used to repair the muscles and tendons that connect your shoulder blade to your upper arm bone. This can be necessary to fix a torn rotator cuff because a full-thickness rotator cuff tear cannot heal on its own.

Shoulder Stabilization Surgery

Arthroscopic stabilization is a minimally invasive surgery used to treat shoulder joint instability that may have failed conservative management. Dr. Cohen uses an arthroscope to determine the source of the instability, then uses specialized surgical instruments inserted through small incisions to perform the necessary procedure.

Total Shoulder Replacement

An anatomic total shoulder replacement requires an intact rotator cuff. During the procedure, an artificial ball replaces the head of the upper arm bone, and an artificial socket replaces the glenoid of the shoulder blade.

Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement

In a reverse total shoulder replacement (opens in new tab), an artificial ball-and-socket replaces the original joint but is placed in reverse positions. The artificial ball replaces the socket of the shoulder blade (the glenoid), and the artificial socket replaces the head of the upper arm bone.

If you have already had shoulder replacement surgery and the implant has issues or is simply worn out and needs replacement, you may need to undergo revision shoulder replacement surgery. During revision surgery, Dr. Cohen removes the damaged or worn-out implant and replaces it with a new implant.

Rotator Cuff Repair with Arthrex® SpeedBridge™

The Arthrex® SpeedBridge™ repair is a surgical technique system that combines fully threaded SwiveLock® anchors with FiberTape® suture.

Total Hip Replacement

In some instances, a total hip replacement or revision total hip replacement may be necessary to alleviate your hip pain and restore your hip mobility. A total hip replacement replaces the damaged hip bone and cartilage with prosthetic components.

Robotic-Assisted Hip Replacement

Dr. Brian Cohen utilizes MAKO SmartRobotics™ for personalized surgical planning and precise surgical guidance. During a robotic-assisted total hip replacement, Dr. Cohen guides the robotic arm to remove the damaged bone and cartilage, then replaces them with a prosthetic implant made of metal and plastic.

Revision Total Hip Replacement

If you have already had a total hip replacement surgery and the implant has issues or is simply worn out and needs to be replaced, then you may need to undergo revision total hip replacement surgery. During a robotic-assisted revision surgery, Dr. Cohen uses the CT to develop the plan for your revision total hip replacement with more accuracy and precision than if performed manually.
