Robert Woodrum’s Journey to Healing with Dr. Cohen

Meet Robert Woodrum:
Robert Woodrum is a proud father of five, grandfather of 20, and great-grandfather of 19. Born and raised in Southern Ohio, Robert now lives in Zanesville, where he enjoys a fulfilling life after retiring from the auto glass business. His life has been filled with family, faith, and hobbies like woodworking, crafting with his wife, solving puzzles, and attending church. Yet, for some time, Robert’s quality of life was overshadowed by persistent shoulder pain that led him to seek care with Dr. Brian Cohen.

The Struggle with Shoulder Pain
Robert had been dealing with shoulder pain for years, particularly in his right shoulder, which had undergone three previous surgeries. Despite the interventions, the pain persisted and continued to impact his daily life. “It was excruciating,” Robert shares. “My shoulder had been popping out of the joint, and after a previous physician tried a spacer, it didn’t help. It started popping out again within weeks.”

The frustration and pain led Robert to seek out Dr. Cohen after hearing about him from others. “I’m so grateful I met Dr. Cohen,” Robert reflects. “After my first surgery, I couldn’t even feed myself, but when I met Dr. Cohen, he took the time to explain everything to me in detail, and I could tell he genuinely cared.”

A Fresh Approach to Care
Before meeting Dr. Cohen, Robert had felt dismissed by previous doctors. “The first doctor didn’t listen to me, and I often saw assistants rather than the doctor himself. It felt like I wasn’t getting the care I deserved,” Robert explains. However, his experience with Dr. Cohen was completely different. “Dr. Cohen was a breath of fresh air,” Robert says. “He took the time to really listen to me, and I felt like I was in good hands.”

Robert felt confident that his shoulder was in good hands with Dr. Cohen.

The Procedure and Recovery
Robert’s surgery was a turning point. He recalls the day of the procedure as being much smoother than he had anticipated. “The hospital staff was fantastic — the place was clean, welcoming, and they really took care of me and my wife,” he says. “Dr. Cohen’s personality made all the difference. It was like talking to someone I’d known for years, and that made me feel comfortable.”

Since the procedure, Robert has been amazed by his progress. He’s well ahead of schedule in his recovery and has regained most of his shoulder’s mobility. “I’m already doing great,” he says. “I still have some therapy to go, but the therapists are impressed with how far I’ve come already.”

Returning to the Hobbies He Loves
Before his surgery, Robert was unable to fully enjoy his hobbies, particularly woodworking and spending time with his family. Now, with the pain gone, he’s able to get back to what he loves. “I’m confident that I’ll be able to play golf again, and that’s a big goal of mine,” he says.

What’s more, Robert has already started recommending Dr. Cohen to others. “I tell people all the time, ‘Go see Dr. Cohen. He’s a miracle worker.’ And I truly mean it. The difference in care is night and day.”

Why Dr. Cohen?
Dr. Cohen’s attention to detail, compassionate care, and willingness to work with Robert on transportation options set him apart from the other doctors Robert had seen. “I can’t believe the difference in care from someone who truly cares versus someone who didn’t.”

Looking Ahead
Now, as Robert looks forward to the future, he’s already thinking about his next step: his left shoulder. “I’m already thinking about getting my left shoulder taken care of once I finish with this one,” Robert says. “I wouldn’t trust anyone else but Dr. Cohen.”

Robert’s story is one of pain, perseverance, and the power of compassionate care. With Dr. Cohen’s help, Robert has regained not just his mobility, but his quality of life — and he’s now on track to enjoy all the activities he loves, from woodworking to golfing.

If you’re facing shoulder or orthopedic pain, Robert’s advice is clear: “Go see Dr. Cohen. He’s not just a doctor, he’s someone who truly cares about your well-being.”
