Jozie Zickafoose ACL Repair

Sara Park, MA and Jozie at her College Signing

Jozie knows what it’s like to truly never give up; after two ACL tears and extended therapy she is back to the grind. This time, at a new level having signed at Houghton University for track and field this year.

Rewind a bit – In April 2023, Jozie was long jumping during a track meet when she tore her ACL on her right knee. Then, in August the same year, it happened again.  “He was very considerate. He would text my dad to ask about me throughout the healing process, and he even paid for some extra physical therapy which was super helpful for getting back in shape for my senior track season,” said Jozie Zickafoose. Dr. Brian Cohen, Orthopedic Surgeon came highly recommended to Jozie when she needed 5-star care.

“I appreciated his manner. One of the things that appealed to me was how straightforward he was. He didn’t’ try to placate me or make it seem like it wasn’t too bad. Instead, he assured me that he’d take care of it, and I loved that. He was confident and that helped build my trust,” Jozie said.

Jozie’s family would best describe her as determined, honest, and disciplined. In her free time, she enjoys swinging, playing guitar, writing and reading. She’s been involved in various sports throughout school including soccer, basketball, softball and track and field. Since recovering from her injury, she has enjoyed getting back to hiking and the obvious, long jumping! “I’ve been able to do everything I could before,” she stated.

If someone were looking for an orthopedic surgeon after a sports injury, Jozie says, “they should go for the exact reasons I trusted him. His direct manner, his determination, and his willingness to go out of his way to support his patients and check on them. Not to mention his skills in the surgical room!”
