Arthritis

Arthritis affects 54 million people in the United States. It’s often the cause of joint pain and stiffness and usually, gets worse with age. According to the CDC, 1 out of 20 adults, the age of 18-64 admitted arthritis affects their work.

There are multiple variants of rheumatic diseases and arthritis. Some of the types that we see the most of in southern Ohio include fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout.

The team at Cohen Orthopedic treat most variants and most symptoms. Unfortunately, if left untreated arthritis can cause other significant illnesses. Because arthritis causes pain and stiffness, adequate exercise is hard to obtain, leaving the body to sometimes develop other long-term conditions like diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Dr. Brian Cohen, Orthopedic Surgeon says, “Arthritis cannot be cured 100%, but our team can help you manage it so it doesn’t affect your daily life.”

Joint Replacement may be an option for you if you continue to find yourself unable to do the things you enjoy. Once your arthritis starts the “wearing process” as Dr. Cohen says, the CT scan will start to show less and less cartilage and will eventually show bone on bone.

If you think you may be experiencing arthritis, start with a consultation. Call 614-788-0375 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Brian Cohen, Orthopedic Surgeon located in Chillicothe, Columbus, and Grove City.
